Support Kids' Meals During COVID-19

About This Campaign

Kids’ Meals serves as a front line first responder to low-income and poverty stricken families who cannot feed their young children by delivering meals directly to the apartments, trailers and homes of hungry children in 43 Houston-area zip codes. In addition to providing food, our daily contact with families provides transformational access to connect families with other support resources to help break the generational poverty cycle.

As a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kids’ Meals has more than doubled the number of children it serves from 3,000 to 7,500 children each weekday. Typically, the program is limited to delivering healthy meals to preschool-aged children who do not have access to free school-based meal programs, but has expanded to also feed the school-aged siblings of its children, who right now lack access to school-based meals.

The Barrington Family Foundation is proud to be partnering with Kids' Meals to help meet the needs of these hungry children during these challenging times.  In addition to a foundational grant it has made, the Barrington Family Foundation has committed to making an additional grant to match dollar-for-dollar every donation made up to a total of $5,000.  That means that your $10 donation, which typically feeds 5 children, will be matched to expand your reach to 10 children.  If the Houston community meets the $5,000 challenge, with the matching grant, we can provide 10,000 meals to children in our community.

Campaign to Support Kids' Meals Inc.

Kids’ Meals is a first-responder to children ages five-years-old and under facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty. Every weekday, year-round, from 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers prepare thousands of healthy lunches consisting of a sandwich, nutritious snack and 100% juice or milk. Our six vans deliver the meals M-F to children enrolled in our program. We currently serve six Houston-area routes that target zip codes all located within Beltway 8, where the need is critical.
